Important information
Online Assessment
All sessions are conducted online. Assessment is the first meeting. This is the opportunity for you to express your immediate concerns for coming to counselling, to assess if therapy is right for you, and for Claire to gain some understanding of your issues. Assessment is the start of our therapeutic process and gives you a chance to gauge whether Claire is the right therapist for you.
Length of session
Assessments last for 1.5 hours. Thereafter sessions are typically one hour.
Duration of therapy
The purpose of therapy is to improve coping and reduce distress. When coping improves, and clients feel more adjusted to carrying out their potential, therapy draws to a close. This is pre-agreed by the therapist and client.
Confidentiality
All sessions are bound by confidentiality. The only exception to this is if Claire has reason to believe that the client is going to cause harm to self or to others. In this instance, we will discuss how and why personal information will need to be shared and with whom. As an ethical practitioner, Claire has a supervisor with whom cases are discussed anonymously. Supervisors are bound by the same confidentiality guidelines as therapists.
Ethics
As a member of the Hong Kong Psychological Society (HKPS), Claire adheres to it's ethical framework for good practice and is subject to the HKPS professional conduct procedure.
Referrals
Claire regularly pulls on additional resources from the wellness community in Hong Kong to provide the best all-round solutions to people’s difficulties. At times she will make suggested referrals to other specialists (e.g. psychiatrists, nutritionists, GPs etc.).
Fees
Fees are available upon request.
